Dammm I have just checked my home dates and I can not make it for 23/07/12 as I have already made plans for 04/08/12. However I have blocked in the other 2 track days for the year into my departments roster.

Hawk

Going thru my in-car videos from Lakeside, watching THAT corner to see how I can make it better, it's the only one that let's me down

Mine is quite simple!! It's a SANYO S1414, I got mine from Target I think it was $89, Dick Smith also has them. It only runs for 10 mins and that's enough for 6-7 laps if you start it just before leaving pit straight. Downside is you go with a huge pack of batteries, usual is 2 x 10 mins and replace the batteries!

If the camera is upside down that doesn't matter, once the video is into your PC and you have 'moviemaker' [most current PC's have that] you just rotate a few times until you get it right!!

It can be set to 'youtube' then uploaded to PC, you make a movie [that's fun first time out!] The mounting bracket Alan [Corolla GTi] organised for me from Hong Kong for $6.92!! Suction cap mounting really anywhere, windscreen inside, boot etc

I'd say there are quite a few different ones around and obviously the price will vary as well. 'justabitrusty' makes great videos from his as does MINX, so maybe some feedback thru here from them can also assist

I have a Contour + and it can do this http://contour.com/stories/first-mx5-track-day plus it can upload to you tube as well.

Cost wise I can work it out for you if needed (I have picked up a spare battery, polariser lens as well as other bits). It will save about 1.5hrs on a 16 gig card and the battery will last for 2 hrs. The only downside is that if you leave it on it does use alot of battery power due to its GPS function (which can be turned off).

I have tried a video camera that has a hard drive in it but the bumps caused issues and the camera (JVC) would stop recording.

Thanks guys. Definitely gotta get mysrlf a video camera.
Despite my slow times i had a blast. Gotta increase tyre pressures...brake hard before corners an. get those apexes right.

Ron

I'm running KUMHO KU36's and run 35-36psi, I find any lower and they tend to feel like hot donuts!! Grip is great but then all tyres are different

Maybe post what you are running and others that have the same will come back with suggestions on those pressures - I do mine COLD

You will find times get better each time, mine did for the first year now I'm having trouble bettering them this year!! I think it's mindset and age in my case!!

Good to meet up with Alex and Jason at Lakeside this afternoon

Alex has a beautiful gold NA with zero offset 8" alloys [looks just great!] and Jason peddles an AE86 - told them all about our track days, when the next is, and yes you can run 'other' makes and yes you will have FUN!!

Alex had just done some 'happy laps' to get the feel of the car so let's hope we see the guys at Lakeside 23 July :D
