One time my skinny arms are useful. I get to it from underneath through the wheel arch.

I did take the wheel off just to have a better crack at tightening the filter.

Is it my imagination but since replacing the BOG valve it seems to be smoother through the higher rev range and winding out a bit better, at least it feels different?

Yep, I used to remove the tyre and go in that way, but even then it was a bastard job, especially if the last person really cranked down on the filter. Could never get it done without making a humongous mess either. Love my filter relocation kit!

. Yeah the mess! Even putting a rag roughly under the filter didn't help as when I was trying to withdraw the filter it slipped out of my hand and I ended up with oil down the side of the head. Any pics of your relocation unit Maniachlachy?

Nothing handy, but I'll snap a shot for you later. Unfortunately I don't think the Thompson kit I used is available any more. Though there are similar ones you could cobble together.

Those Thompson relocation kits haven't been available for a while. I sent them a query last year asking when they would be available again, as well as their underbody front brace, and seems like they don't manufacture anymore, just on-sell stuff.
